Harmonia or Chores & Allowance Bot?

Both apps connect chores to allowance. One is first a ledger for your child’s money, the other a habit app, and on price the answer depends on how many children you have. Here is what you need to choose properly.

  • Several children, and simple allowance tracking is enough Allowance Bot, free
  • You want lasting habits, with no withholding built in as punishment Harmonia
  • You are ready to pay for the full version Harmonia, cheaper

The short answer

On paper both apps do the same thing: your child ticks off chores and their allowance goes up. Chores & Allowance Bot describes itself, though, as a way to keep track of “your family chores, allowance, and savings goals”. So the child’s page opens on their accounts, and chores are mostly how money gets into them. Harmonia starts from the other end, because it is built around routines and habits, and allowance is one reward among several.

If what you want most is to teach your child to save, with several accounts, goals and a graph that climbs, Allowance Bot was built for that and has been doing it since 2013. If the real question is getting an eight-year-old to brush their teeth and tidy their room without you asking twice, that is our ground. Their listing also describes something we rule out on purpose: the option to “withhold any number of future allowance payments as punishment”.

On price, it depends on how many children you have. Their free version has no limit on children and already covers allowance, spending and the account ledger, while Harmonia is free for one parent and one child, with every everyday feature. So with two children and simple needs, Allowance Bot costs you nothing and Harmonia $24.99 a year. Once you pay, though, Harmonia+ is the cheaper one: $5.99 a month, $24.99 a year, or $69.99 for life, against $9.99 a month, $17.99 for six months or $39.99 a year for theirs.

What Allowance Bot does better

$0 for several children, on the free version

Price first, if you have more than one child. Their free version has no limit on children or chores, and it already tracks allowance, spending and accounts. With us, a second child means Harmonia+. If simple tracking is enough and budget decides, you can stop reading here.

Since 2013 4.5 out of 5 across nearly 10,900 ratings on the US App Store

Then there is the track record. The app has been around since 2013, has passed 100,000 downloads on Google Play and holds 4.5 out of 5 on the US App Store, while Harmonia launched in 2026. We do not have that history, and an app your family opens every day is judged over time.

Accounts and goals for learning to save

On money itself, they go further than we do. Each child can have several accounts and savings goals, a share of every payment can move to one of them automatically, and a graph shows savings growing. If money skills are what you care about most, their tool is more complete than ours.

11 languages and a version in the browser

They also ship in eleven languages on the App Store against our nine, and their website says the app runs in a web browser on a computer too. For children who cannot read yet, it reads chore names and amounts aloud.

Pick Allowance Bot if…

  • You have several children and simple allowance tracking is enough: their free version has no limit on children.
  • You want to teach your child to save, with several accounts and goals.
  • You want to manage everything from a computer, in a browser.
  • Your child cannot read yet and you want the app to read their chores aloud.
  • You want an app with more than ten years of track record.

Pick Harmonia if…

  • You have one child: chores, routines, rewards and allowance are free, no card needed.
  • Lasting habits come first for you, and allowance comes on top.
  • You want to reward with more than money, from a catalogue you fill in yourself.
  • You would rather not use an app that offers to withhold allowance as punishment.
  • You are paying for siblings anyway, because Harmonia+ costs $24.99 a year against their $39.99, and there is a $69.99 lifetime option too.

What parents ask us

Are Harmonia and Chores & Allowance Bot the same kind of app?
No, even though both connect chores to allowance. Chores & Allowance Bot is first a ledger for your child’s money, with savings and goals that chores feed into. Harmonia is built around routines and habits, and allowance is one reward among several.
Is Chores & Allowance Bot cheaper than Harmonia?
On the free version, yes from the second child, because their free tier has no limit on children while Harmonia is free for one parent and one child. On the paid version it goes the other way: $9.99 a month, $17.99 for six months or $39.99 a year for theirs, against $5.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $69.99 for life for Harmonia+.
What exactly does the free version of Harmonia include?
Every everyday feature, for one parent and one child: recurring and rotating chores, routines, automated allowance, streaks and chests, the dedicated space on the child’s device, the statistics. Harmonia+ opens up the number of children and parents, and adds two extras: personalized tips from AI and exclusive avatars.
Can you withhold allowance as punishment?
In Chores & Allowance Bot, yes: their listing says you can “easily withhold any number of future allowance payments as punishment”. Harmonia has nothing like that built in, and that is a choice. You can take money out of the pot, for a purchase for instance, but nothing is withheld because of a missed chore. We would rather a forgotten chore earn nothing than cost the child something.
Can you pay children per chore?
In Chores & Allowance Bot, yes, with “reward chores”, which their website lists as a Premium feature. In Harmonia, allowance can be tied to chores or paid on its own, and that is part of the free version for one child.
