Harmonia or NeatKid?

Both apps turn a finished chore into points your child trades for rewards you picked. They part ways over what happens when the chore does not get done, and on several counts NeatKid does better than we do. Here is what you need to choose properly.

  • Your language is not one of our nine NeatKid, in 31 languages
  • You do not want a missed chore to cost your child points Harmonia
  • Several children, and the entry price decides NeatKid, from $4.99

The short answer

On paper, NeatKid and Harmonia do the same job: your child ticks off a chore, earns stars or points, then trades them for a reward you set. The difference shows on the day the chore is left undone. Since version 3.3.1, released on 24 August 2026, NeatKid’s listing announces penalties you can set for incomplete tasks, while Harmonia has none: a missed chore earns nothing, but it takes no points away.

So if you want to be able to penalize a skipped chore, NeatKid lets you and we will not. If you would rather your child keep what they have earned, even on the days the bedroom waits, that is where we stand. Age matters too: NeatKid’s App Store listing is written for children aged 5 to 8, whereas Harmonia is designed for ages 5 to 14.

On price, NeatKid starts lower. Its US App Store listing shows three in-app purchases, at $4.99, $34.99 and $79.99, without saying how long each lasts, and its Google Play listing mentions a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Harmonia+ costs $5.99 a month, $24.99 a year, or $69.99 for life. Both free versions cover one child, but not in the same way: with NeatKid the full rewards and allowance system is paid, while with us every everyday feature is free for one parent and one child. From the second child you pay on both sides, and NeatKid has the lower entry price.

Both apps, screen by screen

The same moments, in NeatKid and then in Harmonia. The difference shows most in how each app treats a child’s tally.

What NeatKid does better

$4.99 the smallest purchase on their listing

Entry price first. NeatKid’s smallest in-app purchase is $4.99, against $5.99 a month for Harmonia+. Their listing does not say how long each purchase lasts, and their middle one, at $34.99, sits above our $24.99 a year, so the exact gap depends on the plan you pick. Still, if you have several children and budget decides on its own, NeatKid lets you start for less.

31 languages on the App Store, against our 9

NeatKid ships in 31 languages on the App Store, from Catalan to Vietnamese, and we offer nine. If the language spoken in your home is missing on our side, that settles it, because a six-year-old needs to read their chores in their own language.

100,000+ downloads on Google Play, 4.4 out of 5

Then there is the track record. NeatKid has been on the App Store since May 2024, has passed 100,000 downloads on Google Play with 4.4 out of 5 across about 1,560 reviews, and holds 4.7 from 920 ratings on the US App Store. Harmonia launched in 2026. We do not have that history and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

5 photos per chore, as proof

And photo proof. Since version 3.4.0, NeatKid lets a child attach up to five photos to a finished chore, to show the before and after. That helps when you are not in the room, or not at home, whereas with us you check in person before approving the points.

Pick NeatKid if…

  • Your children are 5 to 8, the age NeatKid’s App Store listing is written for.
  • You want to be able to set a penalty when a chore is not done.
  • You want to see a photo of the finished chore, even when you are out.
  • Your language is not one of our nine, while NeatKid offers 31.
  • You have several children and want the lowest entry price.

Pick Harmonia if…

  • You have one child: chores, routines, rewards and allowance are free, no card needed.
  • You do not want a missed chore to cost your child points.
  • Your child is older than 8, or your children span ages 5 to 14.
  • You want to approve each chore before the points land.
  • You want chores and allowance connected in one place.

What parents ask us

Are Harmonia and NeatKid the same kind of app?
No, even though the mechanic looks alike: in both, a finished chore earns stars or points that your child trades for rewards you set. They part ways over the missed chore, since NeatKid has let parents set penalties since August 2026, and over age, 5 to 8 according to NeatKid’s App Store listing, 5 to 14 for Harmonia.
Is NeatKid cheaper than Harmonia?
Its entry price is lower. NeatKid’s US App Store listing shows in-app purchases at $4.99, $34.99 and $79.99, without saying how long each lasts, against $5.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $69.99 for life for Harmonia+. With a single child the picture changes: NeatKid’s free version covers your first child but keeps the full rewards and allowance system for the paid plan, while Harmonia is free with every everyday feature for one parent and one child.
What exactly does the free version of Harmonia include?
Every everyday feature, for one parent and one child: recurring and rotating chores, routines, the rewards catalogue, automated allowance, streaks and chests, the dedicated space on the child’s device, the statistics. Harmonia+ opens up the number of children and parents, and adds two extras: personalized tips from AI and exclusive avatars.
Why doesn’t Harmonia offer penalties?
It is a design choice. In Harmonia a missed chore earns nothing, and your child keeps the points already earned, because an app they open every day should not take back what they have won. Some parents want to be able to remove stars, and that is a fair position too: if it is yours, NeatKid has allowed it since version 3.3.1.
Does NeatKid suit older children?
Its own listings give different ranges: 5 to 8 on the App Store, 4 to 12 on the US Google Play listing. Harmonia is designed for ages 5 to 14. If your child is eleven or twelve, install both and see which one they open without being reminded.
